Day trip Munich
program proposal
City tour
It starts with our tour guide in Leopoldstrasse, which crosses Schwabing, past the university into Ludwigstrasse, which King Ludwig I had built in the neo-Renaissance style. Continue to the opera, then walk to Marienplatz, the heart of the Bavarian capital. There we learn more about the old and the new town hall, take a look at the Viktualienmarkt, the Liebfrauenkirche. At Promenadeplatz we see the traditional Hotel Bayerischer Hof and then stroll through Munich's newest "shopping mall", the Fuenf Hoefe. The Odeonsplatz with its Feldherrnhalle not only reminds us of the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, but also of the Hitler Putsch of 1923.
We continue through the art area, past the Pinakotheken and the Technical University, for which King Ludwig II was responsible. The Königsplatz with its Greek-style museums was designed by King Ludwig I.
Passing the Löwenbräu we learn more about the beer and stop for a photo in front of the Nymphenburg Palace, the summer palace of the Bavarian rulers until 1918. The path leads us past the Olympic Park to the BMW World, where our tour ends.
