Ingolstadt - Kehlheim - Weltenburg/Regensburg
(Day or half day trip)
Discover with us an innovative university town, a high-tech location on the Danube or simply an enchanting old town at the gateway to the Altmühltal. It was first mentioned in 806. In the late Middle Ages, the city was one of the capitals of the Bavarian duchies alongside Munich, Landshut and Straubing, which is reflected in the architecture. On March 13, 1472, Ingolstadt became the seat of the first university in Bavaria, which later distinguished itself as the center of the Counter-Reformation. The freethinking Illuminati order was also founded here in 1776. The city was also a Bavarian state fortress for a good 400 years. The historic old town has essentially been preserved.

Even the unusual architecture, which takes up the principle of the annual rings of a tree trunk behind the fully glazed facade, symbolically combines permanence and change. Modern presentation techniques with images, staging and multimedia elements place the numerous exhibits in their historical context and bring the past to life. The company history of today's AUDI AG is discussed, as is the rapid technological progress in automobile construction over the last century. By embedding the exhibits in economic and social conditions, the Audi museum mobile is much more than just a technology museum: a visit is not only a tour through the entire history of the automobile, but also a fascinating look back at the 20th century with its revolutionary changes .
Altmuehltal
The Altmühl Valley and the Main-Danube Canal between Kelheim and Riedenburg are best experienced by boat. Castles, palaces and a dreamy landscape await you. The journey takes you past Essing and under the “Tatzelwurm” wooden bridge, one of the longest wooden bridges in Europe. The area is an Eldorado for cyclists and hikers. See, marvel and enjoy. Welcome to a journey through time along fascinating highlights!
Kehlheim
Medieval town gates, whimsical Renaissance facades, chapels and church ruins steeped in legend: Kelheim's streets and surrounding area hold many stories for those who explore them.
Old canal port
The old Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal was put into operation in 1846 after eleven years of construction. The Stadtknechtgasse leads to the old canal port. The walled canal trough contains lock no. 1, the harbor basin with crane, storage hall and lock house. The 600 m long structure is protected as a monument of engineering architecture, remains functional and can also be used.

Kehlheim – Weltenburg Monastery
The Danube, Europe's mighty river, created this natural spectacle between Kelheim and Weltenburg Abbey. Experience this unique trip through the Danube Gorge, the deepest and narrowest part of the Bavarian Danube, on board our ships. Rock formations towering up to 80 meters out of the water line the path through the nature reserve "Weltenburger Enge" to Weltenburg Monastery - one of the most beautiful and spectacular river landscapes in Bavaria. The Weltenburger Enge is so far the only nature reserve in Bavaria that has been awarded the European Diploma due to its special importance. Weltenburg Abbey is a Benedictine abbey (Abbey of Saint George) in Weltenburg, a district of Kelheim an der Donau in Lower Bavaria. It lies above the Danube Gorge in a loop of the Danube. The fact that monks brewed beer in Weltenburg is documented for the first time in 1050, which is why Weltenburg is advertised as the “oldest monastery brewery in the world”.
You have to try the “Weltenburger Dunkel”, either directly on board our ships or in the shady beer garden of the monastery tavern. Over a distance of around five kilometers, the mighty river flows between the limestone walls that tower up to 80 meters.
Kehlheim-Regensburg
Experience perhaps the first lock trip of your life! In the lock, which is 190 meters long and 12 meters wide, the ship is raised or lowered by several meters.
Kehlheim-Regensburg
The Stone Bridge spans the mighty Danube, about 2.5 hours by boat from Kelheim. For more than 800 years it was the only way to cross the Danube in Regensburg. Together with the mighty cathedral, the Stone Bridge is one of the city's landmarks.
regensburg
The city of Regensburg is located on the Danube in south-eastern Germany and is known for its well-preserved medieval centre. One of its landmarks is the stone bridge from the 12th century. It is 310 m long, has 16 arches and connects the Stadtamhof district with the old town. Another important landmark is the 13th-century Gothic cathedral with its twin towers. This is where the Regensburger Domspatzen are at home. Important German personalities are honored in the Walhalla, a memorial built in the style of the Parthenon east of the city.
